Succession is designed exclusively for Lab members who are ready to transition from the business they acquired. As a long-term holding platform within the Lab’s ecosystem, our team can serve as a stable buyer for select, member-owned companies when they are ready to step away.

What are Succession services?

Succession is an acquisition pathway for Lab members who purchased a business as a member of Acquisition Lab.

When a member is preparing to transition, they may approach the leadership team to explore whether the business is a fit for long-term ownership within the Lab’s holding structure.

However, our selection process is selective. We are not an active buyer of businesses in the broader market, and we do not replace a broker-led process. This pathway exists to provide Lab members with an aligned, internal option when it makes sense for both parties.

Lab members will receive a fast answer on whether the succession process is a good fit and can avoid a broker fee (10%+) if the transaction proceeds.

Once the transaction is finalized, the business becomes part of a long-term portfolio intended to be operated indefinitely rather than resold on a predetermined timeline. We seek to do no harm with Succession companies but instead aim to preserve the legacy and employees left behind after the Operator departs.

We Rent Copiers specializes in nationwide short-term copier rentals for legal and commercial events. It’s one of the businesses currently owned within our long-term holding structure. The brand represents the type of durable, cash-flowing company that fits our Succession philosophy.

Our intention with businesses held through Succession is not short-term resale. We operate with a long-term ownership mindset, prioritizing continuity for employees, customers, and the legacy built by the original Operator.

Companies within this structure continue to be managed with an eye toward long-term growth.
